Labiaplasty, also known as surgical reduction of the labias, is a surgery aimed to enhance the aesthetic appearance of the female genitalia. Large labias can have mutiple and varied etiologies. They can be congenital, but most arise during puberty. Growth can be accentuated during pregnancies and baby deliveries. An increasing number of patients are seeking these types of procedures for aesthetic, functional and/or psychological reasons.

Labiaplasty allows a reduction of one or both labias by excising the excess/overhanging mucosa. Thus, it improves the aesthetic appearances of the labia and vulva. Patients’ self-esteem and overall well-being are improved. Since the results are promising and well-appreciated by patients, this procedure is becoming more popular among patients. Patients are satisfied since this procedure addresses the physiological, psychological and sexual concerns of the patient.
